Find Chiropractor Degrees in the United States and Canada. Chiropractor degrees are offered to candidates who have successfully completed a comprehensive course of study in chiropractic. In many instances, chiropractic colleges will select applicants who have already achieved a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school or university; therefore, it is critical that prospective students interested in attaining their doctor of chiropractor degrees examine educational prerequisites and requirements prior to applying.

Alternative medicine schools that provide academic programs resulting in doctor of chiropractor degrees will involve in-depth curriculums comprised of a minimum of 4,200 hours. A number of chiropractic colleges may offer full and part-time studies, which may be completed within 4 -7 years. Students desiring doctor of chiropractor degrees will quickly learn that curriculums are course-intensive, including philosophy and science of chiropractic, spinal anatomy, biomechanics, static palpation, clinical neurology, physiotherapy, biochemistry, radiology, diagnosis and chiropractic technique. In most programs offering chiropractor degrees, students will gain hands-on training in clinical, laboratory and class instruction.

Some chiropractic schools offering chiropractor degrees will also extend pre-chiropractic science degree programs in human biology and public health. Students who have attained chiropractor degrees will have gained an abundance of knowledge and skills in the field of chiropractic, including how to effectively use manipulation methods to “adjust” the spine. These techniques are fundamentally used in the treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders, or “dis-ease” of the musculoskeletal system. Students who have achieved chiropractor degrees will have learned the true philosophy of chiropractic; being that “subluxations” of the spine can affect functioning of the nervous system and overall health; and how to apply chiropractic adjustments to correct these areas of “dis-ease.”

Successful candidates who have completed all educational requirements to achieve chiropractor degrees, and who have acquired licensure can expect personal and professionally rewarding careers in the field. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, professionals who have achieved chiropractor degrees and licensing have the potential of earning over $100,000 annually.

If you (or someone you know) are interested in attaining chiropractor degrees, let career training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore career school programs near you.

If my chiropractic story were all I had to tell you, I probably wouldn?t be a chiropractor today. Instead, I?d probably be just another satisfied customer who gets adjusted regularly. I injured my back lifting weights for high school football and suffered for 20 years. Eventually, the pain got so bad that I was even willing to consider surgery or chiropractic. At the time, both options were equally as scary to me. Then, I met a chiropractor and started getting adjusted. The results were incredible and I?ve been without a back problem ever since. In fact, I?ve not taken even an aspirin for over 17 years.

However, I?m a chiropractor today because of a little girl named Rockie. I first met Rockie when she was eight years old. At that time, Rockie was having 15-20 grand mal seizures EVERY day and taking over a dozen different prescription drugs for the seizures, ADD/ADHD, emotional and a host of other problems. In fact, Rockie?s problems had been so bad that her doctors had recommended that she be institutionalized so her mom could live a normal life without being burdened by a child like hers. You see, the doctors said that Rockie would never be like normal kids, unable to get along in social settings or do routine physical tasks, even ride a bicycle. Needless to say, Rockie?s mom said ?No!” to that advice declaring that her little girl was a gift from God and responsibility that she would willingly face.

Rockie?s first visit to the chiropractor was with her babysitter?s family. The babysitter made weekly visits to their chiropractor for wellness adjustments. Seemingly unable (or unwilling) to cope with another doctor, Rockie would literally curl up in a corner and watch as all her young friends would get adjusted.

One day, the chiropractor got a call from Rockie?s mom saying that Rockie wanted to get adjusted and how or why would anyone adjust a child, anyway? Her little girl didn?t have any back pain. Rockie?s mom was told simply that adjustments help take stress off the nervous system and that stress on the nervous system can have adverse effects on the body and how it expresses health. During the case history, her mom revealed that Rockie had an extremely difficult delivery at birth and had had problems from the beginning.

Over the years, Rockie?s condition steadily improved. Eventually, she ended up in the National Honor Society, on her high school basketball team and joining a local archery club. The long and short of the story is that Rockie has just finished college after receiving a full academic and is on her way to an advanced degree. Not only can Rockie ride a bicycle, she drove back and forth between Marietta, GA and Columbia, SC every week for four years. She also competes internationally in archery at the championship level. Not only has Rockie overcome incredible odds, she no longer has seizures and takes no more prescription drugs. No. Rockie is not like normal kids, she?s incredible!

When asked what chiropractic did for Rockie, her mom says that more than relief from the seizures, learning disabilities and other diagnoses, the chiropractor was the FIRST and ONLY doctor who offered even a sliver of HOPE for her little girl. After knowing Rockie for several years and having watched her progress, I heard a story of another little girl suffering from seizures. Sadly, this little girl ended up having a hemispherctomy (an experimental procedure where HALF of the brain is removed) to relieve her symptoms. The parents were told that a chiropractor should not adjust their daughter.

At the time, my first child was only 15 months old. Imagining that happening to my child broke my heart. Knowing what potential is designed and available for every living person, I decided that I would dedicate my life to letting people know there is always hope of improving their health and their life. Every day I awaken, I give thanks that I met Rockie and the difference she has made in so many lives.

Medical professional are always skeptical about Chiropractic profession. Earlier Insurance companies would not recognize chiropractic as a viable health care profession. The situation has changed after 1970 once the medically owned and operated insurance companies started to allow chiropractors to panel with their companies.

The most appealing thing is that chiropractors do not use any drugs. Chiropractor practitioners also do not perform surgery; they try to fix the problem in non-intrusive techniques.

Today, there are over 84,000 licensed chiropractors in USA and more than 10,000 students currently enrolled in chiropractic school; chiropractor practice is the fastest growing health care profession. Hence, number of Chiropractor School is also growing in USA and Canada.

Eligibility criteria of student entry into one of several chiropractor schools varies from school to school; however, in most cases, prospective candidates should have accumulated college credits in biology, physics, chemistry, social sciences and humanities. Most chiropractor schools made it prerequisite to have 90 credit hours in the above-mentioned courses.

Most of the students aspire to acquire their Doctor of Chiropractic degree even though chiropractor schools offer a variety of undergraduate studies.

What students learn in chiropractor schools?

Curriculums of first year course in chiropractor schools. Students normally studies philosophy and principles of Chiropractic; human anatomy; physiology; cell biology and histology; biomechanics; radiographic anatomy.

Curriculums of second year course in chiropractor schools

Chiropractor schools have more detailed and advanced course on the first year syllabus. New topics like clinical research, laboratory, toxicology, pharmacology, and physical diagnosis are part of second year course.

The third and fourth year’s syllabus covers more detailed aspect of previous years courses. In-depth pathology classes, patient/practice management are some additional topics in these years.

In final year, students normally work in a clinical setting, where they will practice under the direct supervision of a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic. It is necessary that a student should complete all theoretical courses and internship before they are awarded with Doctor of Chiropractic Degree.

Licensed graduates of chiropractor schools can work in a broad assortment of healthcare services including but not limited to personal health and wellness offices, athletic, occupational, massage parlors and physical therapy training centers, massage therapy centers, primary health care clinics and other medical facilities.

Many people search for alternative treatments for back pain. They tire of the exercise requirements and don?t want to take anti-inflammatories or over the counter pain relievers any more. One treatment option is visiting a chiropractor. They are health care providers who use a different method to try to relive the pain. When you would go to them is one of the key decisions. Since we know that most back pain will disappear in matter of a few weeks with little or no treatment and that using pain relievers and doing some light exercise could speed hat up. When would a person fit in the alternative of going to see a chiropractor?

Many studies show that chiropractic care will give relief to a person?s back pain that is at least equal to conventional back treatments. The reason that many people are reluctant to give it a try is that they are not familiar with the method a chiropractor uses and it scares some people. Others find it too intrusive a method, as it is very much a hands on process. The only way to decide if this type of back pain relief is what you should choose is to better understand what?s done.

A chiropractor is taught that the reason for back pain is that there is something that has caused restricted movement in the spine. Therefore, using the practice of manipulation, the doctor will adjust the person?s skeletal frame in whatever way they feel will fix this. Often it includes a forced movement that will make a loud crack. This is not a bad thing, but if you are going to see a chiropractor its something you will have to get used.

Chiropractic treatment for back pain has many forms other than manipulation which is the one most people are familiar with. They also use massage, electrical muscle stimulation and stretching.

Being treated at a chiropractor is not for everyone. If you have osteoporosis, have had spinal surgery or a stroke it?s not a good idea. As a matter of fact if your are thinking of going to see a chiropractors you should first see your health care provider and see if they feel that there is any reason you should not try this kind of treatment. Perhaps your health care provider can even recommend a chiropractor that they are familiar with or have at least heard of someone with a good reputation. Then call the chiropractor and see them first for a consultation. Explain your back pain and see what they would recommend. Only then can you decide if you want to pursue this type of alternative treatment.

There are relatively few risks connected to trying this treatment for your back pain. Very infrequently neck manipulation can cause some problems. On very rare occasions there can be some damage done to the blood vessels in the neck, which can result in a stroke, but this almost never happens and should not prevent you from trying this method of pain control.

A chiropractor college offers many different challenges for people wishing to get into that field. Many colleges have very high academic standards and expand their offerings for education. A good chiropractor college will put emphasis on strong educational preparation and clinical training in the chiropractor field. The clinical training allows the graduate to realize how successful they can be in a solo practice.

Students are offered an outstanding education at a chiropractor college, and there is high level of excellence. A good chiropractor college will mentor the student with practicing doctors, familiar with every aspect of chiropractic medicine. They will learn chiropractic care, and be enthusiastic in their practice. The curriculum continually grows and teaches the science, art and philosophy that a chiropractor needs to know. Another benefit to a good chiropractor college is that it offers two masters degree programs that help to prepare the student for professional practice as licensed acupuncturists as well. The student should leave feeling competent and confident as a practitioner with an understanding of theoretical concepts. The students will learn by doing, and will integrate theory with practice while working closely with educated and experienced practitioners.

In the end, a good chiropractor college will provide students with all the training and skills that are needed to help alleviate pain maintain wellness and establish a successful and fulfilling career. There should be high standards at a chiropractor college to help bring out the full potential of the student. The instructors will be highly involved and should offer hands-on training. There should be reputable doctors of chiropractic medicine in the program, and there should be new academic choices in acupuncture as it is often used hand in hand with chiropractic medicine. Research and internship opportunities should be available for the students. These areas should help to bring out the students highest potential, as this is one of the goals of a good chiropractor college. When the student graduates, they should be able to run a profitable practice.

Over a period of several years, I had gained a lot of weight over the last several years. It’s funny in an odd, sad kind of way that while I would be talking to the public about health and a wellness lifestyle, I was doing so while being significantly overweight. It’s obvious that the message that was REALLY getting out to the public was that while I might be a nice guy and that the message SOUNDED good, that I either didn’t believe what I was preaching or at least not living it fully.

Like most folks, one day I reached a point where I had to honestly face the man in the mirror and say “Enough!” We all reach that point at different times and with different circumstances. Sometimes, it might be weight or other health issues, financial matters or even personal or spiritual issues. But, we all have (or will have) those moments.

So one day, I chose one of those infomercials that I KNEW to be more rational and scientific than the others and went to work. I’m glad to tell you that, so far, I’ve lost 35 pounds! Now, I’ve still got a a good bit more to lose, but it’s coming off almost effortlessly. Maybe the difference this time is that my resolve is not as much to lose the weight but to LIVE how I want to be living in my 80s and 90s, active and healthy.

One of the things that I’m enjoying is working out again. There’s something special about the FEELING of muscle under your skin. Maybe it’s a guy thing. But, it gives you a sense of power. And, that feeling of power affects the way you approach every other aspect of your life. The other thing I really enjoy about this program is that it’s neither starvation, faddish nor unrealistic. It’s a reasonable food plan that encourages you to simply eat what you like that is GOOD for you and avoid what is NOT. Oh yeah, the program also encourages you to do a simple routine of resistance exercise that you can do at home or at work. It’s the increased muscle that burns those calories 24 hours every day, even while you sleep.

One of the things I’m learning through this journey is that losing weight can be simple and that it can be done. The hardest part is simply starting. Once underway, the challenge is to focus on what your objective is while trying not to think about what you’re sacrificing. By changing your lifestyle instead of just trying another diet, you can change your life.

For an active person, running is an exhilarating way to get a good workout. Unsurprisingly, a good many fitness buffs swear by their daily runs; both as a form of exercise and a way to clear their head and get grounded and ready for their day. As with any exercise, running demands some planning, and for those under the care of a chiropractor, this actual kind of exercise might require a bit of extra planning. Nonetheless, even a runner who?s never seen the inside of a chiropractor?s office can benefit from a number of chiropractic tips which will them avoid types of injuries that have long lasting effects.

1 Do wear running shoes- do not wear normal tennis shoes or footwear designed for other kinds of athletic activities like hiking, basketball or rock climbing. Chiropractors want every runner to understand the effect that an incorrectly enclosed foot has on leg bones and therefore on the spine; that?s why they caution runners that proper footwear makes a vast difference in your overall health.

2 Move your arms when you run. A beginning runner often does not know they should move their arms in time with the movement of the leg opposite. Experienced runners are very aware that it is this motion which assures the body weight has proper transference.

3 Chiropractors warn against wearing out your running shoes until you need to hold them together with strings and tape. Rather, replace them as the soles wear down. Worn out shoes no longer sufficiently cradle your foot; run down soles make it hard to walk appropriately.

4 Chiropractors are especially determined that you avoid strap-on weights at ankles or wrists. The amount of injuries chiropractors see as a result of runners following in on this fad is sobering. Those who want to exercise with weights, should do it after or prior to their run, never during. Adding weights alters your body?s balance and as your body tries to compensate, damage to your neck and spine can easily be done.

5 Don?t look down while running; instead scan the way ahead of you for any obstacles you may need to avoid, there is no reason to be running with your face down. Failure to look straight ahead so results in straining the neck?s curvature and contributes to back pain, neck pain, and a swarm of other conditions you don?t want.

Chiropractors have much good advice about running; the wise runner who follows these suggestions will avoid the pitfalls and reap the most benefit from their physical efforts.

Chiropractic is a science and a medical profession that had officially existed for more than 100 years, but its techniques were practiced since ancient times. Described by many as holistic medicine, chiropractic considers not only your physical well-being, but also your psychical health. Chiropractic provides for a medical care system with proven results and it?s a more natural approach to treating disorders of the musculo-skeletal system and nervous system, including back pain, neck pain, headaches and much more.

Chiropractic Is a Natural, Non-Invasive Approach to Health Care

Doctors of chiropractic practice a non-invasive, drug-free medical profession. Although chiropractors might provide nutritional counseling, it is always recommended to ask a certified nutritionist for advice concerning drastic diets. Chiropractors might also recommend, where necessary, other non-invasive therapies such as medical gymnastics or physiotherapy. Do remember: chiropractors do not prescribe drugs. Period.

Now what?s so special about chiropractic and why is this profession becoming more and more popular these days? Well, simply because it offers a better alternative than drugs to health problems and disorders related to the spine, pelvis and the extremities. The main technique used by chiropractors to treat several disorders is called spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) and the uniqueness of this profession stays in the idea that SMT influences positively the nerve flow.

If you suffer of back or neck pain, you probably need to pay a visit to a chiropractor. There is already enough evidence that SMT does relieve back pain and the advantage is that it works faster than physiotherapy, being less invasive than drugs or chirurgical interventions. Well, there are situations when chirurgical intervention is compulsory, but for normal disorders or for recovery after a surgery, chiropractic is the best alternative. Chiropractic is not synonym with SMT as many people believe. Other doctors of medicine, including orthopedists, physiatrist and sports medicine practitioners, also use this technique. What Is a Chiropractor?

A very important thing you should know is that chiropractic cannot treat just any health disorder and that chiropractors, although they do have a very solid medical background, are not doctors of medicine (MD) but doctors of chiropractic (DC). This means that they will recognize symptoms of a certain disease, but will not treat it without the ?referral? from your medical doctor. You should also understand that a chiropractor is not a healer. Once again: chiropractors have medical background, they go through a rigorous professional education, equivalent to the education of the doctors of medicine. They are trained in using medical equipment required for performing their profession accurately (X-rays, investigative equipment, etc). Chiropractors are not homeopaths either, but there are plenty of homeopaths that claim that they have chiropractic knowledge. Don?t let yourself fooled by such claims. There might be chiropractors with homeopathic knowledge, but there is no such a thing as a homeopath with chiropractic knowledge, unless he or she has a doctor of chiropractic diploma.

So, chiropractors are not healers but they are holistic practitioners ? treating the whole person rather than just the symptoms of a disease. You can be sure that a chiropractor will treat you differently than a normal medical doctor. He will listen to your questions, answer and counsel you, within the limits of his line of work. Chiropractors consider that a patient?s health is influenced by many factors including heredity, diet and lifestyle and so on so they will concentrate to heal the disease and enhance the wellness of a patient. The term wellness in chiropractic doesn?t refer to a spa or a hot tub, but to a general state of health, free from disease: stress, headaches, carpal tunnel, sciatica, fibromylagia, fatigue, knee pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, allergies to enumerate just a few.

Practice growth is a difficult and often frustrating process. No matter how talented, experienced, or proficient you are as a chiropractor, marketing your business may be draining your energy, funds, and desire to achieve the original plans you had for your practice.

Advertising is not fail-proof, and usually the thought of advertising expenses is enough to make business owners feel light-headed. Captivating your targeted market is not easy in today’s world. How will you advertise - in the Yellow Pages, on the internet, through media? These are difficult and important decisions that a clinic director must make.

It is easy for a person to forget what they heard on the radio, watched on television, or flipped through in a magazine, because while they are being bombarded with information they are actively thinking about other things or focused on multiple activities at once. That is not to say that these forms of advertising do not work, obviously they work quite well, but repetition is usually the key. Additionally, these types of advertisements can become extremely expensive in a hurry. Quite frankly, for the small business, advertising on such a large-scale is not a viable solution.

Print advertising is the safest, most-effective, and easily traceable form of marketing. Just open a Sunday newspaper and you will see every major retailer in your area along with numerous successful small area businesses who all leverage the power of print marketing. These businesses know how to monitor their ROI as well, they never throw away advertising money. By including an item such as a coupon or special offer unique to only one particular advertisement, business owners can track which customers are responding to their print ads. There are many creative ways to monitor success, just use a little creativity and imagination while designing.

But why is print the best advertising medium?

It’s simple really. Print ads are delivered directly into the hands of your customers. Your print advertisements will reach thousands of people who are looking for solutions to their real life problems. The ideal prospect is a person who struggles with back pain on a daily basis, aches throughout the work day, and barely finds the ability to sleep each night. Once they have your advertisement in hand, their own pain will remind them to call you, and they will. It is critical that you take the first step in the process. You must reach out your helping hand before a prospective customer will reach out for the help. Give your customers a reason to call.

What other benefits do print ads offer your practice? Print advertisements, such as newspaper inserts, allow prospects to interact with your practice before they ever make a phone call. Print ads also lend credibility to your business and help further your branding and local identity. More importantly, print advertisements are the most powerful and effective way to deliver testimonials which instantly generate reactions that result in new appointments.

If you can still remember why you started your own practice then it isn’t too late.
